Action: Encouraging a congregation to actively pray for the salvation of there friends and family, then seeing the results

Idea: This station was dreamt up when working with a group who lacked confidence and needed to see God at work. The station is simple to create. You will need to paper a wall or board (I use Ikea’s Mala drawing paper its cheap and great stuff.) Then place some pens and a work sheet around the paper.

The participant comes in adds the names of those he wants to see God work with and offers them up in prayer along with those names already on the sheets.

I encourage congregations to keep record of those who come to know the Lord and make a permanent display for the congregation too see God at work. It really provides encouragement for those who haven’t seen God move yet (or in a while.)

Items needed: Paper, Pens, Worksheet

Action: Assessing your perceived perception of yourself with Gods view of you.

This is a station i first used for a teen 24/7 prayer room. I realise image is a big concern for teenagers and wanted to challenge perceptions and reinforce Gods love for each teenager as they are. I have since seen this station work in amazing ways the most memorable walking in to a prayer room and observing a small group of body builders weeping and praying over each other realising that they are more than their looks.

Idea: Look in to a mirror and assess how you see yourself, then read what God thinks about you. Work through any differences.

Items needed: Large Mirror/s, Bibles (If I am doing a evangelistic prayer room I will print out the passage), Work Sheet.

Action: Finding God in the midst of challenging situations.

This is a simple Prayer Station that has helped many people who come in to a prayer room in the midst of a storm. We live in a challenging world and all to often we are juggling many different things when we come to worship, in my experience we normally don’t even fully realise the amount we carry. Taking a simple peice of paper and writing down all the things that cause us stress, worry and make us feel out of balance then asking God to come in to each one individually and take control can often be liberating. Then when we understand that God is in control we can symbolically tear up the paper and throw it in the trash knowing that we no longer need to struggle by ourself with the issues.

Note: Be careful not to present the idea that the person praying problems are trash but that God has control and is taking care of them.

Items needed: Explanation cards, Paper, Pens, Rubbish Bin

The Cartoon is from Asbojesus‘s superb cartoon blog. John Birch the creator has often amazed me with his ability of conveying with a picture concepts which I could not fully expound in a essay. Please take a good look around his site, there are some real jems.

Action: Praying for specific person or need with a visual reminder.

I was recently asked to do a prayer station as a response to the parable of the sower, I also wanted to come up with more prayer stations that will continue to be used after people leave the service/room so I came up with this.

Idea: Spend time praying for a person whilst planting a plant and putting their name on the pot. The prayer will then take that plant home and put it somewhere they will see it everyday. (The most consistent feedback I have had is from people who put their plant near the sink, these people pray for the person whilst washing up!) When the person sees the plant they can continue to pray for the issue and know that Gods in control.

Items needed: Compost, Plastic plant pots, Trowel, Seeds, Sticky Labels, Pens, explanation sheet.

A link to my explanation sheet is as follows (grow)

This resource is designed to be an open source for Prayer Station ideas. These ideas are tried, tested and proven to be of use in church services and Prayer Rooms. They will stand alone or complement other activities. Please feel free to use and adapt any ideas posted here. I pray they are useful to you. Please comment on how you used them and message me with any of your own ideas that you don’t mind been published.

I have been involved in running 24/7 prayer rooms at different locations across the country and at conferences over the last 8 years and wanted to make the resources I have used available to all as much as I can legally do so. This blog will also link to other people’s resources that I find.

Please make use of this site and be in touch.

Please click here for the prayer stations.
